India  and Abroad: A Conference on Condensed Matter Physics

Overview
This conference is intended for members of thecondensed matter physics community in India and condensed matter physicists of Indian origin (interpreted broadly to include all with special ties to India) worldwide. In addition to its  purely scientific agenda defined by the program, its broaderaim is to foster closer integration between these two communities which shouldfacilitate a two-way flow of ideas and people.

Organization
The conference is being sponsored by the S.N. Bose National Center for Basic Sciences and will be held at its campusin Calcutta. It is also the beneficiary of support from Lucent Technologies.The organizing committee consists of Chandan Dasgupta (IISc), Sushanta Dattagupta (SNBC), Arun Jayannavar (IOPB), Abhijit Mookerjee  (SNBNCBS, Secretary) and D. D. Sarma (IISc) along with Venkat Chandrasekhar (Northwestern), Sharad Ramanathan (Lucent), Anirvan Sengupta  (Lucent, Secretary) and  Shivaji Sondhi (Princeton).
